Homeland Energy Group Ltd., which trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "HEG", is focused on energy exploration, development and production in Southern Africa.

Homeland owns two advanced operations that have been placed into production - the Kendal Mine near Witbank, South Africa and the Northfield Site reclamation project near Dundee, South Africa. In addition the Company has an advanced coal development project in South Africa (Eloff), and a number of earlier-stage exploration properties in the provinces of Mpumalanga and Kwa-Zulu Natal, and in Botswana.

The Company's long term growth strategy includes the potential to acquire interests in a number of additional coal properties in South Africa, neighbouring countries and in other parts of the world, including North America.

Technical Team - Africa

Mike Nell

The Company's exploration and development programs are carried out under the supervision of Homeland's Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Michael Nell. Mr. Nell, a professional mining engineer, is a qualified person as defined by Canadian National Instrument 43-101 with more than 25 years of experience in the coal exploration, development and mining industry.



Xolani Gamede

Mr. Gamede is an admitted Attorney having obtained his LLB from UDW (UKZN) specializing in Mining and Securities Law. Mr. Gamede joined the Dept. of Minerals and Energy in 2002, serving most recently as Deputy Director (Mineral Law) in Durban.

Mr. Gamede is responsible for legal affairs and contracts of HMESA.


Hanno Spangenburg

Mr. Spangenberg has 18 years of experience in the coal mining sector in South Africa. Trained and certificated as an Electrical Engineer, he is responsible for site and establishment and operations at Homeland's Kendal Mine as well as well as overseeing planning and design of the Eloff Mine and other projects in South Africa.

Mr.Spangenberg joined Homeland in 2006 from BHP Billiton.


Joe Van Rensburg

Mr. van Rensburg has 26 years of experience in the Mining Industry, including Financial Management Training and Health and Safety Management.

Mr. van Rensburg worked at Trans-Natal and Xstrata before joining Homeland. He is currently responsible for Health, Safety and Environment.



Hannes Abrie

Mr Abrie has 34 years experience in the coal mining industry. He was working in the Plant as General Plant Supervisor. He also was a Senior Metallurgical Training Officer. He worked at Anglo Coal before moving to Homeland Mining. He is responsible for the Plant operation and the movement of all ROM coal and coal sales.



Paul Roberts

Mr Roberts started his career in 1973 on an opencast mine in the UK. Moved to South Africa during 1975. He has 35 years experience in the mining industry. He is a registered Surveyor with PLATO and has worked on opencast and underground mining operations. He has been involved in survey and geology disciplines before changing to Mine Planning. Paul joined HMESA in June 2008 from Exxaro.



HILTON PAPENFUS

Mr Papenfus has more than 26 years experience in the mining industry and was specializing in opencast and underground coal operations. He was working for Anglo Coal who became Eyesizwe and later became Exxaro. Hilton joined HMESA during February 2008 as the General Manager Operations. He is responsible for the management and daily operation of Kendal Colliery and the management of all Contractors working on site.
